- Goal
- Land three consulting clients by May
- Today’s task, 30 min
- Write the agenda for Thursday’s call with Juan
- Why this, why now
- Two days ago you noted that Juan wants a call about a support agent. Nothing has moved since. A short agenda is the smallest step that turns that note into a first client.
- Check-in at 00:00
- Did you send the agenda? What is the one question you most want answered on the call?
Every interest gets its turn.
List what you care about, say how often each should come up, and the cycle tells you what’s next.

14 slots in the cycle. Thesis 5 of 14, Side project 4 of 14, Guitar 3 of 14, Spanish 2 of 14.
This is the rotation behind the timer, the same one you see in the app. Raise a weight and watch the ring change.
Set it up once. Then just show up.
Step 1: Add your areas
Guitar, thesis, Spanish, the side project. Put a few tasks under each.
Step 2: Give each a weight
From 1 to 6. A 6 comes up six times for every once a 1 does, spread evenly across the cycle.
Step 3: Open the timer
It shows one task. You work on it. When the timer ends, the next one is already chosen.
One task. One timer. Nothing else on the screen.
The timer looks the same for every task, so starting is the only decision left.
- Notes that wait for you
- Write a note or save a link with a comment. The last ones show up when the task comes around again.
- Skip without guilt
- Not today? Skip. The area keeps its place in the cycle and comes back when it is due.
- A copilot for big tasks
- Ask it for a short checklist for this session, written from your last handoff. It stays with the task; what you leave open becomes the next handoff.
Pro
Tell it where you’re going. It writes the next step.
Describe where you stand and what you want in a year. Every few tasks, the Goals Agent slips one into the rotation that moves a goal, reads your notes, and asks what happened when the timer ends.
- Your profile and goals are versioned. You edit them; the agent proposes, never overwrites.
- Each goal task comes with a why, a how-to-start, and a check-in afterwards.
- A weekly review links your own tasks to goals and suggests what to drop, merge or rewrite.
Your terminal knows what you’re on.
CycleFocus speaks MCP. Connect Claude Code or claude.ai with one command and the task, the handoff and the notes follow you into the work.
$ claude mcp add --transport http cyclefocus https://cyclefocus.piagents.dev/api/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer cf_…"- /focus
- A brief on the task the rotation is on: where you left it, the open steps of the plan, the first thing to do.
- /note
- A thought or a link, saved on any task without leaving the terminal. It waits there for the next pass.
- /handoff
- Claude writes the handoff from what happened in the session and the repository. You approve one line.
Seven tools: read the current task, search notes, read your goals; write notes, handoffs and plan steps. None of them moves the rotation. Tokens are personal and revocable.
